The HAZTEMP Application

Temperature Cycle in the Heat Affected Zone (HAZ)

View the HAZTEMP Control Panel

  • HAZTEMP allows the user to determine the temperature versus time history at a point location near the weld. It is useful for estimating the likelihood of phase transformations in the heat affected zone.

  • HAZTEMP can predict the cooling rate in the base metal and therefore can be used to compare the effect of changes in weld parameters, such as travel speed and preheat temperature.
  • By changing the preheat temperature and other parameters, one can estimate the likelihood of cold cracking in structural steels.
  • HAZTEMP currently can be used for 19 metals and alloys: 304, 15-5PH, and17-4PH stainless steels, 1018, HY80, and HY130 steels, Hastelloy C4, C22, and B2, Kovar, 1100 and 6061 Aluminum, Ti-6Al-4V, Inconel 625, and 718, Nickel 200, 110 Copper, Tin, and Molybdenum.
